What makes a website a GOOD website?
What makes a website a good website can be rather complex, because there are several variables to consider, functionality as well as having "The LOOK!" meaning that it is like having a piece of jewelry. It could be pretty on the outside but once you look at it carefully there can be many imperfections. Now in most cases those imperfections on a website can cost you from many different perspectives...
First of all, in most cases if you are designing or have a professional website designed it is because you are selling goods or services. You have something to offer to businesses or to the general public. In either case you need to reach out to the viewer. And do everything possible to keep the attention of the web user, to gain that viewer a customer or client.
Foremost above all is the first impression, and that is accomplished by having the right look and the correct and the most compelling calls to action.
Is the website informative? Most people are fact finders and once they find something, they will hold you to it, so accuracy is KEY! So get the FACTS before posting it on the web.
REMEMBER! Never make a website offensive, abusive or abrasive, unless you want that one moment in the spotlight and endless negative fame. It is also a way to get black listed on the search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, etc...
Is your website or going to be a website that is easy to navigate? A website should be not only informative but also a website that the information is easy to find. It can't be like finding a needle in a hay stack. And your navigation titles need to relevant to the content, so that it is informative as well as being easy to find.
Is having a website created completely in flash the answer to having a good or great website? The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! It is good to have a SMALL portion which we call flash elements on the websites we create because they are great marketing elements. But to have a website designed completely in flash is like falling into the black hole of space. You will never be found if you are counting on the help of search engines.
